A little about me: My name is Angel, I'm a full-time wife and mom. I have an insatiable appetite for learning everything. Here, I'll probably post stuff about cooking, creating, cleaning or everyday useful tips or products I love. But I also love cars (I will own a Bugatti one day), animals (cats are my favorite), gardening (I love African daisies), fantasy movies (my husband really made me fall in love with the LoTR series), and all things geek (thanks, Hubs). So when I pick up a book it's most likely going to be an instruction manual or something science related. (I hope you haven't fallen asleep yet.)
When I was younger I would have sworn I would be a carpenter one day, or a chef, or an interior designer, or a doctor (haven't we all said that one). Realizing now, every one of those job descriptions involves a lot of technical thinking and design (yes, I think doctors design too), so maybe that's just how my brain works. That's not to say I can't be seen watching a few mindless TV shows every now and then. We all have our vices, right?
I started my own business, Earth Angel Studios, in 2008 because I felt I needed somewhere to make my creative ideas tangible. The name of the company actually was born long before that. I told myself one day, I would make it happen; although, it took about 10 years. I started out with making therapy pillows such as neck pillows, eye pillows and boo-boo bags. I had two little boys at the time and they seemed practical to me (I was also a chronic migraine sufferer), so I figured they would be practical to others especially people who don't sew or craft.
I had to take a few years off when we found out we were expecting our third son, who was a complete surprise. My husband had just landed a new job about an hour away, so with being pregnant and with our impending move, and no possibility of selling our house, I had to close up for a while. I'll leave the details of that for a later post, we've had a roller-coaster of a ride of experiences throughout our marriage. We just celebrated 11 years together this year. Phew!
Now, I'm trying my hand at knitting and crochet. I picked up crochet as a young girl, but never really learned stitches past chaining, single crochet and double crochet. I would make little blankets and furniture for my dolls. When my oldest son was a baby, a lady from church wanted to start a knitting circle with the women's group I was in so she taught us all how to knit. I fell immediately in love with the craft again. I wanted to absorb as much as I could, I loved it that much. She challenged me to make a pair of baby booties, which I whipped up in a day, as well as making a multi-colored, multi-textured baby hat and a baby cardigan. I was very pleased with myself.
So I've been enjoying that lately and incorporating my creations into my business, as well as designing my own patterns. I really want to differentiate myself from other designers, and I don't want to be pegged into one category. So we'll see where my ideas take me.
Thanks for visiting! I hope you visit often and find my posts helpful, humorous, or inspiring.
